How does the project make a difference?

The project supports several areas at the same time conceiving the local community that benefits as a whole that includes the human being and the protection of the environment (fauna and flora)
Smiles and songs will greet you on arrival at local schools where you will help in improving the school infrastructure and make new friends. Help reduce the conflict between humans and wildlife through our elephant conservation projects. Immerse yourself in the local community, meeting with inspiring women's groups and helping them with microfinance initiatives

Why are volunteers needed?

​

The volunteers support in collaboration with local volunteers in the different projects and above all contribute a new perspective and creativity. It is a continuous feedback where everyone wins.

Accommodation and Food

​

Food and lodging are included in your program. Volunteers stay in the camp with the other volunteers. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided. The hostel is very comfortable, but it is important to remember you will not eat as you usually do at home, but we will make sure you have enough good quality food. As a volunteer you must be flexible with the traditions and customs of your host country.

First day

​

On the first day of your program (normally Monday) your orientation will begin at 8am and will be conducted by our staff. The orientation will cover everything you need to know during the time of your program including an introduction from Kenya, customs, language differences, rules, expectations, safety, and travel opportunities. After the orientation we will take you to your lodging where you will stay at night.

Volunteer week

​

Day 1: You will arrive in Nairobi where you will be met by a member of our local team and transferred to your accommodation in Tsavo. Upon arrival you will receive a warm welcome from our camp staff. They will show you their new African home and will be informed by our project manager about the work you will be carrying out.
Day 2: After a much needed dream, you will also visit a local school and learn Swahili phrases with the children from school. A great opportunity to know the schools with which you will work and support during your trip.
Day 3-6: Start the project. You will spend the next 4 days helping to improve school infrastructure and facilities. Working in collaboration with local volunteers building school desks or classrooms.
Day 7: We will take you to a nearby hostel and restaurant within the local town of Voi. Here you can enjoy a delicious Swahili lunch before a relaxing afternoon by the pool. On the way back to the camp we will visit a Maasai village.
Day 8: Learn about key conservation issues that prevail in this area, while contributing to initiatives designed to counter the conflict between humans and wildlife. Participate in Safari Game Drive in the impressive Rukinga Sanctuary, home to lions, elephants, giraffes and more.
Day 9-10: Dedicated to specific issues of human / elephant conflict. Project initiatives include the manufacture of human elephant deterrents to keep elephants away from community crops. The following is elephant manure paper, which is a popular initiative designed to provide neighboring communities with a source of income.
Day 11-12: A unique day-to-day look at rural African communities. You will have the privilege of meeting with a truly inspiring group of women who support themselves through various microfinance initiatives.
Day 13: We walk to the beautiful hills of Marungu. In the afternoon, enjoy a picnic in the ancient caves while admiring the breathtaking panoramic views of Rukinga's ranch.
Day 14: We will say goodbye before we transfer you to Nairobi airport a few hours before your scheduled flight.

While volunteering the wildlife here will blow you away. There is no better way to end a day in Kenya than to watch the sunset over the plains. Return to the camp to see some delicious chapatis around the camp fire. This trip will leave you wanting more from Kenya
